The new Canon EOS 5D mark X will be announced on February 28.

The new Canon EOS 5d mark III, from now mark X, this will be the new name, following the new 1DX saga name, will be announced on February 28 and will be available on the market on April, priced at $2700.
This announcement will be joined by 2 new lenses, the long awaited update for the 24-70mm f2.8L (ALREADY ANNOUNCED) and a new 35mm f1.4 L.
Canon bring forward the presentation of it’s new 5D mark X to counteract the announcement of the Nikon D800. In the Canon offices are aware of the risk involved of delaying the waiting of his followers. This could mean that many of them will stare at the new product from Nikon, and more than one, because they can not stand the wait, had just acquired the new D800.
We hope that Canon confirm this news in a few days.

This has been a while with all these rumors last year and now 2012, I hope to upgrade to my first FF body. And I’m not so fond of the 5D ii’s weaknesses. AF, constuction and white balance plus screen seems less then my 7D. 22mpx’s with only one stop ISO performance and 61 AF points plus better construction and seals would be great additions. Nikons D800 could loose out on some sales due to too high pixel counts and much lower ISO performance then their already discontinued D700. My personal wish list would be a crop mode to extend lenses on the fly and two stops ISO performance would be out of this world at only $ 2,700.00
